As we have discussed in previous posts, June 11th, the second anniversary of the international day of solidarity with Marie Mason, Eric McDavid, and other longterm anarchist prisoners is tomorrow! We wanted to take the time and tell you about all the cool events happening so you can take part in them and help the events become a success! Please note that some of these actions have happened already
- New York City, NY– (June 11th) punk rock kareoke benefiting Marie and Eric. Facebook event here. ” Along with the NYC Anarchist Black Cross,
Punk Rock Karaoke Chicago will be hosting their first ever night in NYC! We’ll be throwing down for Marie Mason, Eric McDavid, and other long-term anarchist prisoners in honor of the annual June 11th International Day of Solidarity. Every penny raised will go directly towards support efforts for Marie, Eric and others. Come out and support our prisoners by shelling out some cash and singing your heart out to one-of-a-kind punk rock karaoke tracks! Seriously, it is a win/win. Monday, June 11th 8pm – midnight (8pm sharp! Not punk time.) Fontana’s Bar (105 Eldridge Street, Manhattan) $7 donation 21+ (SORRY!)” - Buffalo, NY–(June 11th) Burning Books is hosting a release of a new booklet covering an early spree of eco-sabotage actions of nuclear power plants and the Snowbowl ski resort in the Grand Canyon region during the late 1980s. 420 Connecticut St, 7:00pm.
- Washington, DC– (June 11th) an ice cream social on June 11th, from 6pm to 9pm at 1213 Delafield Pl NW. $10-20 suggested donation, all proceeds to Marie and Eric. “There will be homemade ice cream, cookies, and caramel sauce as well as a variety of other toppings. We’re talking sundaes, milkshakes, and ice cream sandwiches! There will even be sandwiches from Sticky Fingers.” Facebook event here.
- Guelph, Ontario–(June 11th) ”Monday, June 11th 2012, you are invited to join Guelph ABC for a presentation and letter writing night to show support to long term anarchist prisoners Eric McDavid and Marie Mason. This event will be from 6-8pm @ The Square, 86 Wyndham St. N, next to the post office. Stationary and stamps provided, including original letterpress postcards!”
- Asheville, NC–(June 11th) ”We in the Asheville, NC area are holding a waffle brunch at Firestorm Cafe on June 10th in solidarity with all political prisoners and in effort to raise bond funds for Christopher French, a friend and anarchist arrested during NATO and held on an insane $250k bail (since reduced to $100k). We will use Firestorm’s epic community space to show videos, distribute info & resources, and write letters to our beloved incarcerated comrades — and also to eat delicious vegan waffle meals. Join us!”
- Chicago, IL–(June 9th) Punk rock kareoke, at the Underground Lounge (952 W Newport), 9 pm. It is a benefit for the Chicago Books for Women in Prison, and there will be a postcard drive for Marie and Eric at the event. $5.00 dollars at the door, $3.00 if you bring a soft bound dictionary, journal, or lesbian erotica. 21+.
- Lake Worth, FL–(June 11th) ”We at the Earth First! Journal and the South Florida Prison Book Project are hosting a small event on Monday, at 8pm. Please come to discuss these cases and find out more about how you can support these and other prisoners. Local acoustic musicians will be performing (TBA). The event will be a potluck, so please bring food and drink.”
- New Orleans, LA–(June 11th) “June 11 at 6:30 Mudlark Theater, 1200 Port St. Potluck and letterwriting, information and updates on Marie Mason and Eric McDavid, as well as other local and national cases; screening of Princess Mononoke.”
- Seattle, WA–(June 11th) dinner soiree: ”Please join us at the Wildcat for an evening of celebrating our shared struggle with Marie, Eric, and other anarchist prisoners. The night will include dinner (donations to anarchist prisoners), guest speaker: Josh Harper (former SHAC 7 prisoner), update on current anarchist court cases, discussion, anti-prison poetry, letter writing, and other activities! - Eugene, OR– (June 11th) “On June 11 (at 11 am) we are going to hold a circus at the new federal courthouse to mock the federal courts to show that, “If justice is a circus, all of us are clowns.” There will be jugglers, fire-breathers, stilts, music, lots of clowns and other performers. - Portland, OR–(June 11th) all stores in the vegan mini mall are donating 10% of their profits to Marie and Eric on June 11th. On June 10th, a barbecue and block party–”meet at People’s Park at 3pm, we’ll march to the party together!”
- San Francisco, CA–(June 11th) “Please join us on June 11th for a community grand jury teach-in. Grand juries are tools of government harassment that have long been used to intimidate and destroy radical movements. There is an active grand jury convened in the Bay Area. Several people have been subpoenaed and are scheduled to appear before the grand jury on June 12th. They need your support! Come out and learn what grand juries are and how they operate, what your rights are, and how you can support grand jury resisters. This forum highlighting grand juries as tools of government repression is being organized as part of the June 11th International Day of Solidarity with Eric McDavid and Marie Mason. This event is free, but we will be accepting donations for Eric and Marie’s support funds. Monday, June 11, 2012 7:00 – 9:00pm, at the Eric Quezada Center for Culture & Politics 518 Valencia Street, San Francisco (www.518valencia.org). This event is wheel chair accessible.”
- Santa Cruz, CA–(June 11th) tea party and letter-writing night, 5-7pm, at SubRosa, 702 Pacific. Tea and snacks provided.
- Baltimore, MD–(June 11th) A showing of Princess Mononoke & letter writing night. $5-8 suggested donation for the film – all proceeds go to Marie & Eric. Stamps and stationary for letter writing provided for free. 8pm @ Bohemian Coffee House.
- Cinncinnati, OH–(June 11th) benefit concert at 4341 Kirby Ave, with Dreams In Hell, Pillowbiter, Stillsuit and free screenprinting. Bring a shirt!
- Bristol, UK–(June 11th) Bristol ABC is serving vegan food along with a discussion of Eric and Marie’s case, and a film screening of “The Jeff Free Luers Story”. 14 Robertson Rd, Easton, Bs5 6JY. More info here.
- Indianapolis, IN–(June 11th) vegan potluck at 638 East 48th St. $5-10 suggested donation for Marie and Eric. Facebook event here.
- Toledo, OH–(June 9th) vegan/veggie potluck and showing of “If A Tree Falls”, followed by live music from Illlogical Spoon, Space Gypsies, and The Blue Skies. Saturday, June 9th at Third Space/B-Bop Records, 137 N. Michigan.
- Philadelphia, PA–(June 9th) on Saturday, June 9th, 50% of all sales from the Wooden Shoe (704 South St) will go to Marie and Eric. That evening at 6pm, there’s a benefit show at the LAVA Space, located at 4134 Lancaster. Peregrine, Cop Problem, Dying, and one band TBA are playing.
- Pittsburgh, PA–(June 11th) a gathering in Friendship Park at 4:30pm–info, hangouts, and music. At 6pm, a movie showing, refreshments and discussions at the Big Idea bookstore.
- Memphis, TN–(June 11th) a showing of “Attica”, a talk by Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin, letter-writing, and refreshments. Donations will be split between Sundiata Acoli and Marie Mason. Facebook event here.
- Salt Lake City, Utah–(June 11th) Afternoon: a family friendly activity in the park featuring a mini carnival (game booths, face painting, three-legged “Mutual Aid” race, etc.) with vegan food and refreshments for donations. Evening: punk rock show with performances by local political bands. Possible fire juggling display.
- Louisville, KY–(June 11th) a showing of “If A Tree Falls” and a chili dinner.
- Evansville, IN–(June 11th) a community picnic and info session.
- Minneapolis, MN–(June 11th) a microphone demo.
- St Louis, MO–(June 9th) a benefit show, dance party, dinner and discussion on June 9th at the Boulder space. All money collected going to prisoner support.
- Brighton, UK–(June 12th) film screening and prisoner letter-writing. There will also be tea, tasty vegan cake, zines and patches. 7pm, Cowley Club, London Rd.
- Jerusalem, Israel–(June 21st) a dinner, showing of “Pickaxe”, discussion, letterwriting and zine distribution, all on June 21st at Ginger, a veggie bar. Any money raised will go to Marie and Eric.
